 LSPHCB, SCI COLLABORATE TO STRENGTHEN CHILD IMMUNISATION The Lagos State Primary Health Care Board (LSPHCB) hosted a high-level delegation from Save the Children International (SCI), led by Country Director, Mr. Duncan Harvey, during an official courtesy visit to the board on Thursday, 17th September 2026. The visit comes as part of Save the Children’s global leadership tour in Nigeria to evaluate the impact of the BOOST Project (Better Opportunities for Optimal Services and Targeted Immunisation for Zero-Dose and Under-Immunised Children) and to align on strategic priorities for child health across the state.      The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested one Idorenyin Essien,35, who burnt his son to death over alleged theft.
Recall that Mr Essien doused his son Abadiofon with kerosene and set him ablaze at Afia Nsit community in the Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom.
The spokesman of the command, DSP. Mac-Don Achibe, who confirmed the development while speaking with newsmen in Eket on Tuesday, said that the incident, which occurred on Aug. 29, was reported to the police by Essien’s neighbours.
Achibe said the case would be charged to court after the police investigation.
Essien burnt his son to death with claims that he stole N500 from their landord’s house to buy food. According to reports, Essien sent the minor to buy kerosene, which the son did. He tied the boy with a rope, doused him with the kerosene and set him ablaze. The boy was rushed to hospital but later died.One more photo below.
