NAF COMPLETES LOCAL REASSEMBLY OF FIRST TWO H125 HELICOPTERS IN LAGOS The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully completed the local reassembly of its first two H125 helicopters at NAF Base Ikeja, Lagos, following their delivery by Airbus. Conducted with the support of Airbus technical personnel, the exercise marks an important milestone in strengthening technical collaboration, facilitating knowledge transfer and enhancing NAF personnel’s practical exposure to the support and maintenance of modern rotary-wing platforms. The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, described the development as a positive step towards strengthening the NAF’s technical and operational capacity. Gov. Uba Sani Appoints Hon. Vicky Boniface Special Assistant On Community Engagements Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has approved the appointment of Hon. Vicky Boniface as Special Assistant on Community Engagements. Boniface, who hails from Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State, is a grassroots politician and mobiliser with experience in political and community engagements. She is a former APC aspirant for the Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency and former Labour Party Women Leader, Zone III. She also served as Women Leader of the Engr. UPDATE: I refer to my earlier post drawing attention to the statement issued by the Consul-General of Nigeria in Johannesburg, Ambassador Ninikanwa Okey-Uche. That statement remains the basis of Nigeria’s position. Three Nigerian nationals died in South Africa between 18 and 21 September: Kenechukwu Christopher Igwemmadu in Bloemfontein; Olaniyi Olaleye Olatunde in Pretoria; and Christian Hillary Nnaemeka in Primrose. Their families deserve answers. So does the Nigerian community. These deaths occurred in different circumstances. One followed an alleged encounter with police. One was a shooting after a dispute in a nightclub. One followed an alleged encounter with a private crew associated with Mr Xolani Khumalo. They should not be treated as one incident. Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ekene Ogugua, described the incident as a painful loss to the family, the school community and the education sector. Dr. Ogugua condoled with the bereaved family and the management, teachers and pupils of the school, praying God to grant them the strength to bear the loss. Anambra Attorney General Orders Probe, Prosecution of Those Denying Women Inheritance Rights The Anambra State Government has directed the police to investigate and prepare for prosecution cases in which women and girls are denied the right to inherit property on account of their gender. In a letter dated and released to journalists on September 26, 2026, Attorney General Tobechukwu Nweke, SAN, instructed the Nigerian Police to thoroughly examine all such complaints and forward the case files to his office for further action. RAINFALL; FEDERAL FIRE SERVICE CAUTIONS FCT RESIDENTS ON FLOOD SAFETY The Federal Fire Service, FCT Command, has cautioned residents to take precautionary measures against flooding as rainfall intensifies across the Territory. The FCT Controller, Muhammed Anas, urges residents, particularly those in low-lying areas, riverbanks and communities with poor drainage, to remain vigilant and avoid activities that worsen flooding. These include dumping refuse in drains and waterways, building on floodplains or drainage channels, blocking drainage systems and indiscriminate excavation near rivers and streams. The Command advises Residents to clear drains regularly, monitor weather alerts, avoid crossing flooded roads and waterways, keep children away from floodwaters and switch off electricity in flooded areas. Police officer k!lled after being run over during a stop and search in Lagos A 20-year-old driver, Olumide Olusola, has allegedly k!lled a police Sergeant, Johnson Okediji, during a stop-and-search duty along Olugbede Street, Egbeda, Lagos. The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, disclosed that the sad incident occurred on Saturday, 26th September 2026. A Utah judge ordered Douglas Stewart Carter let out on bail late Monday over objections from the victim’s family. Carter is required to wear a GPS monitor while he awaits a new trial in the 1985 killing of Eva Olesen. The state Supreme Court ordered a new trial last year, citing misconduct by investigators. ANAMBRA POLICE RECOVER SIX-ROUND PISTOL DURING STOP-AND-SEARCH OPERATION IN NNEWI The Anambra State Police Command has recovered a six-round English-made pistol during a stop-and-search operation by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, Nnewi Sector, and Police Mobile Force (PMF) 54. The recovery was made on the evening of 26th September 2026, when the joint team, while conducting visibility patrol within the Nnewi North metropolis, stopped two male persons travelling on a Tiger 150 motorcycle without a registration number.
