  The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has dismissed a viral claim circulating on social media about the introduction of new ₦5,000 and ₦10,000 banknotes, labeling it as fake news. The claim, which included fabricated images of the supposed new denominations featuring Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe and Chief Obafemi Awolowo, falsely stated that the new notes would enter circulation from May 1, 2025. In a statement on its verified Facebook account, the CBN clarified that the content is not from the bank and directed the public to its official website, (www.cbn.gov.ng), for authentic information. The bank warned against spreading misinformation regarding monetary policies and urged Nigerians to rely only on official statements from its verified channels. Lebanese arrested for defiling underage girls                 32 year old Jack Sankary from Lebanon was arrested in Ondo state capital for having carnal knowledge of under-aged girls in Akure.he was arrested by detctives.Chinwe Chinasa,was arrested for allegedly trafficking six young girls to libya for prostitution,she was arrested at olufoam area of Federal Housing Estate Shagari village in Akure.it was discovered that 6 young girls had been prepared for the journey to libya.part of the preparation includes shaving of their hairs and cutting of their nails.some of the girls confirmed that the suspect deceived their parents that she was going to help them look for jobs and not prostitution.Patience Godwin,is currently undergoing interrogation at the state CID.she was arrested at her hid out in Odopetu area of Akure metropolis and a 14 year old girl about to be taken to the Lebanese,was rescued.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
