 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken. Boko Haram attacks military base in Kaduna, kill 11 soldiers, injure 19

Boko Haram terrorists have attacked a military base in Polewire area of Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State, killing 11 soldiers and injuring 19 others.

Three members of a local vigilante group also lost their lives, while two others suffered injuries during the attack.

DAILY NIGERIAN gathered that during the 3 and half-hour battle, which started at 4:30pm and ended 8pm, three Armoured Personnel Carriers, APC were burnt to ashes after dislodging troops from the location.

Security sources said the location is the major movement route of the terrorists crossing from Niger to Zamfara.

In a situation report sighted by our reporter, the military equipment lost or destroyed include 1 Legion MRAP; 1 Cobra APC; 1 Styer APC; DSHK machine gun; 2 HK 21 guns; 1 GPMG; 14 AK47 rifles; 3 pump action guns; 10 motorcycles, among others.
