 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Electoral Commissioner Beaten Mercilessly After Declaring APC’s Winner Of Adamawa Poll

The Independence National Electoral Commission, Official who announced the Governorship candidate of All Progressive Congress, APC Senator Aishatu Dahiru Binani, as the winner of the Adamawa State Governorship election, allegedly being beaten and stripped.

This comes after a confusion earlier came as the outcome of the Supplementary Elections following the declaration of Binani, as the winner of the election by the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Barrister Hudu Yunusa of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state, freshreporters reports.

As at sound 1am Sunday, Freshreporters noted that the electoral body, INEC had adjourned collation till 11am to enable the arrival of results from 10 local government areas.

However, at about 8am on Sunday, three hours before the scheduled resumption of collation, the REC, accompanied by other security operatives, arrived the collation centre and invited journalists around to join him for a sudden address.

Despite not being the state returning officer, constitutionally mandated to declare outcome of governorship election, he was said to have brought out a paper from his pocket and declared the APC candidate, Aisha Binani, winner of the Adamawa State Governorship election.

INEC from it headquarters swiftly released a press statement Declaring the action of the REC null and void. The electoral umpire also declared the suspension of the Collation till further notice.

Meanwhile, freshreporters had seen in a viral video where the Resident Commissioner Who Declared Binani winner beaten to stupor and was whisked in a car.
