SENATE ADJOURNS EMERGENCY PLENARY ON STATE POLICE OVER REP’S DEATH. The Senate today suspended consideration of the highly anticipated State Police Bill and all other legislative business at its emergency plenary session to honour the memory of Hon. Yaya Tongo, a member of the House of Representatives, whose death cast a sombre mood over the National Assembly. The upper chamber had reconvened from recess amid expectations that lawmakers would accelerate action on the proposed constitutional amendment seeking to establish state police across the federation, a measure widely seen as a major step in the ongoing effort to reform Nigeria’s security architecture. However, proceedings were cut short after Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced the death of Tongo, who represented the Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency of Gombe State in the House of Representatives. Hon. Tongo passed away at Nizamiye Hospital in Abuja on June 12, 2026, following a brief illness. His death triggered a...

THE FAMILY OF A DISABLED STUDENT ARE ALLEGING SHE WAS ABUSED BY A TEACHER.(PHOTOS).

The family of a disabled Plano, Texas student are alleging she was abused by a Plano independent school district teacher. The terrible actions taken by the teacher are absolutely appalling.

Saniyah Nelson is a senior at Plano high-school.  Saniyah was diagnosed with the rare genetic disorder GRIN syndrome, this syndrome has left Saniyah completely disabled. As a result Saniyah needs personal care with everything from feeding to diaper changes.

Saniyah's mother, Lestia, said she started noticing things that concerned her when Saniyah would arrive home from school. She shared, "Saniyah would come home with bloody diaper rashes and the school had also changed her to a liquid diet without informing the family." This caused Saniyah to lose 10 to 15 lbs!

As Lestia became more concerned, she decided to send a recording device to school with Saniyah. While reviewing the recordings on January 8th, she heard her daughter Saniyah crying. This understandably alarmed the already worried mother. She took Saniyah to the doctor who documented a significant decreased range of motion in her neck.

After all of the doctors findings, Lestia knew something bad had happened to Saniyah at school. She has not sent Saniyah back to school since. She also requested video of that day at school; a video she only received this week.

While viewing the heartbreaking video, Lestia uncovered shocking and appalling footage that seems to explain Saniyah's distress on that day.

In the video, you can see a teacher viciously elbow poor Saniyah and then push her head down. I have trouble even writing the next sentence. After pushing the helpless child's head down... the teacher grabbed her by the throat and choked her while picking her back up. Saniyah began crying/sobbing. The teacher responded by bending her fingers back to inflict as much pain as possible. This made the helpless girl cry out in unimaginable pain.

After the video was released on social media the school released a statement ensuring the public they had taken immediate action after being presented with the findings. The school said the teacher is no longer employed with the district. The school said they have also reported the incident to the appropriate agencies. Police are investigating the horrible incident.

Many in the community wonder why the school did nothing until the mother took it upon herself to get to the bottom of what happened at school on January 8th.

Lestia believes criminal charges need to be filed and the school needs to be held accountable.

I legally cannot share the teacher's name until official charges are brought. However, I know some of my followers will share the mother's post in comments which names of the teacher.

Our thoughts are with this young lady and her family.
