 Chawai Community Appeals To Gov. Uba Sani For Relief, Medical Support After Deadly Kauru Attack The people of Chawai Chiefdom in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State have appealed to Governor Uba Sani to provide urgent relief and medical assistance to victims of the deadly attack on Naridon village in Kamaru Ward. In an open letter addressed to the governor, the community commended his leadership, describing his administration as inclusive and fair. They said this had given residents confidence that every community in the state is valued. The community, however, expressed concern over what it described as the lack of government intervention following the attack on Naridon village, in which it said 30 people were killed. According to the letter, many survivors and families of the victims are still struggling with grief, trauma, displacement, and the challenges of caring for those injured in the attack.  Lionsgate cuts 50 jobs, says move is part of plan to ‘reposition company for growth’

Lionsgate is cutting about 50 jobs, reducing its workforce by roughly 5% as part of a year-long effort to “reposition the company for growth.” This follows an earlier round of layoffs this year that cut 8% of staff, bringing the studio’s total reduction to 13%. Company leaders say this latest round will be the final stage of the downsizing process.

CEO Jon Feltheimer explained in a memo to employees that the cuts are part of broader corporate restructuring, including the recent split of Lionsgate and Starz into independent companies. Feltheimer described the moves as efforts to focus on growth areas, monetize non-core assets, and adapt to the rapidly changing media landscape. The studio, which recently released the Stephen King adaptation The Long Walk, has several upcoming titles, including The Strangers – Chapter 2, Kiss of the Spider Woman, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, and the Sydney Sweeney-led The Housemaid. Feltheimer emphasized that the company’s core strengths—including its extensive film and television library, premium franchises, and talented workforce—remain intact and are positioned for long-term growth.
