 LAGOS UNVEILS NATIONAL INTERMEDIATE GAMES’ MASCOT IN READINESS FOR HOSTING COMPETITION  In demonstration of Lagos State’s readiness to host the maiden edition of the National Intermediate Games coming up later in the year, the Lagos State Sports Commission unveiled the Games’ mascot and logo in Ikeja at a brief ceremony. The unveiling, which marked the commencement of activities for the Games, was attended by top state government dignitaries, sports administrators, and enthusiasts from across the length and breadth of the country.  World War I Harlem Hellfighters receive Congressional Gold Medal 

Congress formally recognized the Army's 369th Infantry Regiment, famously known as the "Harlem Hellfighters," with a Congressional Gold Medal during a ceremony on Wednesday afternoon in Washington.

House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., presented the medal to Debra Willett, whose grandfather, Sgt. Leander Willett served with the regiment in France, where the unit earned its celebrated nickname.

"My grandfather and the other brave men who fought alongside him never imagined their courage and accomplishments would be honored in such a distinguished setting," Willett said. "They sacrificed, believing they were making a difference, and today shows that they truly did."
