 TROOPS OF OPERATION FANSAN YAMMA ARREST TERRORIST KINGPIN, INTERCEPT AMMUNITION COURIER, OTHERS IN KADUNA STATE Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (JTF NW OPFY) arrested a suspected terrorists, intercepted ammunition courier and apprehended a suspected terrorist logistics supplier in separate operations in Kaduna State. In the early hours of 9 September 2026, troops of Sector 1 conducted a clearance operation at Dabar Dabo, a known hideout of terrorists in Kubau Local Government Area of Kaduna State. During the operation, troops arrested the terrorist kingpin and two other members of his syndicate at their hideout. The arrested suspects are currently in military custody for further investigation. Similarly, on the same day, troops of Sector 1, acting on credible intelligence regarding the movement of terrorist ammunition, arrested a 50-year-old female ammunition courier in possession of 300 rounds of ammunition concealed in a bag in Igabi Local Gover...

 U.S sends $2.3M in military equipment to Niger despite strained ties

The United States said it had donated nine containers of military equipment worth about $2.3 million to Niger’s armed forces to support operations against criminal networks and terrorist groups.


According to a statement from the US Embassy in Niamey, the shipment included uniforms, protective equipment and medical supplies.


The donation underscores Washington’s continued security engagement in the Sahel despite strained ties with governments in the region.


In February, Washington lifted sanctions on three senior Malian officials over their ties to Russia’s Wagner mercenary group, signaling a broader shift toward pragmatic cooperation in the region.
