 ABU Vice-Chancellor Hosts 100 Students To Lunch, Urges Them To Look Beyond Certificates The Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Prof. Adamu Ahmed, has hosted 100 students to a lunch, urging them to look beyond academic certificates and focus on creating value and making meaningful contributions to society. The students participated in the university’s Lunch with the Vice-Chancellor programme held at the weekend, where Prof. Ahmed interacted with the select group and discussed the opportunities, challenges and responsibilities awaiting them both within and beyond the university. The Vice-Chancellor said the university would sustain the annual programme because its greatest strength lies in its people. “A university is not only its buildings, laboratories, and lecture halls; it is, above all, its people,” he said.  NIGERIA CORRECTIONAL SERVICE AND ARMY INTELLIGENCE DEEPEN COLLABORATION ON CUSTODIAL SECURITY


The Nigerian Correctional Service and the Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps have agreed to strengthen intelligence sharing and cooperation to improve custodial security and support national security.


In a statement, the Service Public Relations Officer, Jane Osuji, says the commitment was made when the Chief of Military Intelligence, Major General Hedima, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Controller-General of Corrections, Sylvester Nwakuche, in Abuja.


The Controller-General disclosed that the Service currently manages about 81,000 inmates, with approximately 65 per cent awaiting trial and more than 4,000 on death row. He stressed the need for stronger inter-agency cooperation to address increasingly complex security threats.


The Chief of Military Intelligence called for joint training, the designation of intelligence focal officers and prompt exchange of actionable intelligence between both institutions.


The Nigerian Correctional Service says the collaboration will also support rehabilitation programmes, including education, vocational training and deradicalisation, as part of efforts to strengthen national security.
