I will never join APC – Fayose Former Governor of Ekiti State Ayodele Fayose has dismissed speculations that he plans to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, insisting that he remains a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, Fayose said that although he openly supported President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election, it did not mean he had joined APC. He described Tinubu as a respected national leader, especially from the South-West, but maintained that his loyalty to PDP remains unchanged. “The PDP’s problem did not start today. I am not a member of the APC and I will never be. I didn’t hide my support for Asiwaju; I consider him a leader in Nigeria and particularly from our zone,” Fayose stated. Fayose’s comments come amid a wave of defections rocking PDP, with several top members, including governors and lawmakers, recently joining APC.

OBI SLAMS DEFECTION POLITICS, REJECTS SOUTH-EAST ‘CAPTURE’.(PHOTO).

Obi slams defection politics, rejects South-East ‘capture’ Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has dismissed fears of Nigeria sliding into a one-party state, saying no political party can “capture” any region simply because a governor defects to it. Obi stated this in Abuja while reacting to the recent defection of Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah and his Bayelsa counterpart, Douye Diri, to the ruling All Progressives Congress. The former Anambra State governor, who has consistently championed issue-based politics, said the idea that a state can be “captured” by a political party through the defection of its leader belongs to Nigeria’s military past. “The people will decide where to go, not governors or senators. No party will capture or win any state just because it has a governor,” Obi said. “Peter Mbah is a good friend of mine, and I believe that as governor, he must have taken his decision based on his own political views and calculations.” Obi dismissed the ...

Umahi: Tinubu’s administration constructing roads to last 100 years Dave Umahi, minister of works, says President Bola Tinubu’s administration is not merely constructing roads but building durable infrastructure designed to last a century. Umahi spoke on Wednesday after inspecting ongoing reconstruction work on the Lagos–Sagamu–Ijebu-Ode–Benin expressway. The minister said the use of concrete pavement technology in road construction would guarantee durability and deliver superior quality compared to asphalt. “Show me any asphalt road in this country that has lasted 50 years. Even the Lagos-Ibadan expressway is already failing in some portions,” he said. “But the concrete road built in my state in the 1950s is still standing. We are not just constructing roads; we are building roads that will last over 100 years.” The minister expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work on the reconstruction project, describing it as a model for the new standard of federal road infrast...

"Social media is now a begging site," Yhemolee blasts Nigerians Nigerian singer and actor, Idowu Adeyemi, popularly known as Yhemolee, has expressed frustration over the way social media is being used by Nigerians. According to him, many people have now turned online platforms into “begging sites”, constantly asking for money from strangers. Yhemolee noted that social media has become a breeding ground for professional beggars, saying that the only difference between them and those on the streets is that the online beggars have internet data. “It’s no longer news that social media isn’t social media anymore. It’s now a begging site,” he said. “The only difference is that unlike the beggars on the road, the beggars on the internet have data. These days, when you post a picture, the first ten comments are account numbers. My major problem is those who have a PhD in begging. Please omit all those begging from my own picture.” The entertainer, who rose to fame with his hit son...

Kenneth Okonkwo to INEC: Declare Douye Diri’s office vacant for resigning from PDP Kenneth Okonkwo, former chieftain of the Labour Party (LP), says Douye Diri, governor of Bayelsa, has effectively vacated his office following his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). On Wednesday, Diri announced his resignation from the PDP during a cabinet meeting at the government house in Yenagoa, without stating which party he would be pitching tent with next. In a statement on Thursday Okonkwo cited section 177(c) of the 1999 Constitution, which mandates that every elected government official must belong to a political party. He argued that since Diri is currently not a member of any party, he has lost his seat as governor. “Gov Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has just vacated his seat as the Governor of Bayelsa State by resigning from the PDP and not belonging to any party,” he wrote.
