 U.S imposes sanctions on former Congo President Joseph Kabila The United States on Thursday imposed sanctions on former Democratic Republic of Congo President Joseph Kabila for his support of ‌Rwanda-backed M23 rebels and for fueling political instability in Congo's troubled east. The U.S. Treasury Department said M23 and its political-military arm, the Congo River Alliance (AFC), had been stoking violent conflict in eastern DRC, resulting in the deaths of thousands of civilians and a mass displacement crisis. Treasury said Kabila had provided financial support to the ​AFC in order to influence the political situation in eastern DRC, while encouraging DRC troops to defect and join AFC forces. ​It said Kabila was working to regain influence over the government by backing a candidate opposed to the current ⁠leader. SEPP BLATTER AND MICHEL PLATINI,SUSPENDED FOR 8 YEARS FROM ALL FOOTBALL ACTIVITIES.

                            It was reported today monday that FIFA President Sepp Blatter and UEFA boss Michel Platini have been suspended for eight years from all football-related activities followiung an ethics investigation.They were found guilty of breaches surrounding a £1.3m {$2m} ''Disloyal payment'' made to Platini in 2011.The FIFA ethics committee found Batter and Platini had demonstrated an abusive execution of their positions.Platini said ''The decision was a masquerade intended to dirty his name while Sepp Blatter said ''I will fight for me and for FIFA''.Both men,continue to deny wrongdoing and intended to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.Blatter from Swiss and 60 year old Frenchman Platini have also been fined £33,700 {$40,000} and £54,000 {$80,000} respectively.One more photo below.
