 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. JAMB HAS EXTENDED THE REGISTRATION EXERCISE OF ITS ADMISSION BY 2 WEEKS.

Related image               The Registrar of the Board,Professor Ishaq Oloyede,announced the extension of the Registration exercise of its admission examinations otherwise known as the United Tertiary Matriculation by two weeks.He made the announcement in Abuja,after the aborted Jamb Mock exams earlier scheduled for April 8th.Prof Oloyede also announced that the 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations,UTME has been re-scheduled to commence between 13th of May and 20th May,2017.''The Joint Admissions and matriculation board wishes to apologise to candidates and other stakeholders,we could not go on with the mock examinations and hereby announce extension of the registration exercise for the 2017 UTME,instead of the earlier announced April 19.The deadline for the sale of forms and registration will now extend to friday,May 5th,2017.Consequently,the 2017 UTME has also been postponed to start on saturday,May 13th to 20th,2017,'' he said.''Meanwhile,the mock examination earlier slated for saturday,April 8,2017 has been put on hold,this is because the appropriate rehearsal and test running of the new system has been sunstantially achieved,'' the Registrar stated.The registrar added that the plan was to trial test the readiness of the new facilities and also address the challenges that may likely confront the main examination.''At this moment,we have realized that the plan to hold this mock examination was good for us,we are now in a better position to achieve better than we would have done without this trial testing.It is our strong conviction that this exercise is an experience for us,our systems analysis has revealed interesting findings that will engender a seamless and successful 2017 UTME.On behalf of JAMB,we seize this opportunity to appreciate our stakeholders,including the candidates,for being part of this experiment''.
