  The Rivers State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has issued a 14-day ultimatum to the Rivers State Police Command, demanding a public apology for the assault on five journalists during a peaceful protest in Port Harcourt. Failure to comply, the union warned, would result in a statewide media blackout. In a statement jointly signed by Council Chairman Comrade Paul Bazia and Secretary Dr. Ijeoma Tubosia, the NUJ condemned the police actions as “unprovoked, barbaric, and inhuman,” calling for the immediate identification and prosecution of the officers involved. “The NUJ, as a watchdog of society, will not sit idly by while media practitioners are subjected to barbarism and brutality. NIGERIAN AIR FORCE IS SET TO ESTABLISH A WAR COLLEGE IN MAKURDI,BENUE STATE.

Image result for nigerian airforce logo                                       Chief of Air Staff,Air Marshall Sadiq Abubakar said that the Nigerian Air Force has concluded arrangements for the establishment of Air War College to be located in Makurdi,the Benue State Capital.He disclosed this during a courtesy call on Governor Samuel Ortom in Makudi requested for early resolution of issues concerning land titles for some of the organisation's establishments.He said the Airforce Secondary School located in Makurdi would be expanded and assured Benue State Government of the organisation's readiness to contribute to improvement of general security in the state.Air Marshall Abubakar said there are plans for the deployment of surveillance Jets and Helicopter gunshots to track the movement of criminal elements within the Benue region adding that President Muhammadu Buhari had given the Air-Force excess air planes.The Chief of Air Staff appealed to the governor to request the communities having security challenges to support the Air Force with information on activities of criminals and expressed appreciation for the assistance Benue state government has been giving to the organisation.Responding,Governor Samuel Ortom commended the Air Force for contributing to the decimation of boko haram in the North-east.Governor Ortom said Benue has been receiving tremendous support from the Air Force in the area of security,health and education and prayed for the repose of the soul of those who lost their lives in the war against insurgency.The governor assured the Chief of Air Staff of speedy resolution of issues relating to titles for land belonging to the Air Force and noted with delight the assistance the Air Force Base has been giving to the state by allowing government officials to use the airport.
