 TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE ALONG BENIN–SAPELE ROAD Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during a targeted operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. The suspect, identified as Olamide Oyeniyi, was arrested on 12 September 2026 at Obaretin Community by troops conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes within the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms.      A Final year student of the Cross Rivers University of Technology CRUTECH, was shot dead yesterday morning at about 11.30am shortly after he finished his final year first semester examination.
He was said to have been stepping out of the examination hall when he was accosted by some fierce looking men who shot him at close range. The men fled the scene immediately.
Students of the institution believe it is a cult-related murder.

The remains of the deceased has been taken to the state mortuary. According to another source ''It was a shocking moment when a final year student of the Cross Rivers University of Technology (CRUTECH) was shot dead Monday morning at about 11.30am shortly after he finished his final year first semester examination.
The Final year Engineering student has been identified as James Chia. He was shot to death by suspected cultists belonging to a rival group on Monday afternoon.
James was reportedly a popular student known as ‘Jay’ Real on Facebook. He hailed from Abi Local Government, but grew up in Ogoja, Cross River.He was a 500-level student of Engineering in the Cross River University of Technology, CRUTECH, Calabar Campus.More photos below.
