According to the magazine ''In rocky times, there’s a general notion that pop culture and its icons are gratuitous. “How can you be talking aboutthiswhilethisis happening?” is the pervasive question. To a certain extent, that type of discourse is justified—some newspapers leave as much room for a celebrity’s newly-bleached eyebrows as they do our president’s impeachment.
But to discount the importance of pop culture in its entirety is flawed. We need moments like Kylie Jenner transforming herself into Marilyn Monroe—a vintage version of the celebrity archetype that Jenner herself now embodies—for the levity of it all; the sleepy mornings in the office during which “Did you see her Halloween costume?” tastes a lot sweeter with coffee than panicking over an upcoming presentation. Or perhaps the holiday dinners wherein uncomfortable family dynamics go undiscussed in favor of picking your favorite sister—“I’m such a Kourtney, and let me tell you why.”
The 22-year-old’s Halloween rendition of Monroe, infused with the perfect mix of camp and glamor, won’t change the world as we know it. But our latest digital cover star is giving us ammunition with which to fill our quiet moments by life's metaphorical (or actual) water-coolers: “What did you think of it? Have you ever seen Gentlemen Prefer Blondes? What are you dressing up as? I heard the dress was custom.”.
Fashion is a means of escapism, and entertainment is a privilege. But we’re always going to want it. And hey, I’d much prefer the Kardashians over gladiators. They’re way prettier.
To remember why we fell for her in the first place, I asked Kylie some of the "36 Questions That Lead to Love." Check it out, below.
What would constitute a perfect day for you?
I love mixing work and play–I take Stormi everywhere with me so doing some work in the morning and then having a playdate with her cousins in the afternoon sounds perfect!
If you could wake up tomorrow and have gained one quality or ability, what would it be?
To stop time! I wish I could slow things down. Stormi’s growing up so quickly.
What is your most treasured memory?
The day Stormi was born will always be the best day of my life, but I’ll also never forget the day when I launched Kylie Cosmetics. Both my babies!
When did you last cry in front of another person? By yourself?
My assistant wrote me a note last Friday. I cried when I read it not only because it was heartfelt but it made me realize how blessed I am to be surrounded by so many wonderful people.
Given the choice of anyone in the world, who would you want as a dinner guest?
Marilyn Monroe, of course! I love her films, style and there are so many questions I want to ask her!
For what in your life do you feel the most grateful?
I’m most grateful for Kris Jenner! I wouldn’t be where I am today without her support, love and guidance and I definitely wouldn’t have ever had the courage to launch a business without her help.
If a crystal ball could tell you the truth about yourself, your life, the future, or anything else, what would you want to know?
I don’t think I could handle seeing Stormi as a teenager, so probably where Kylie Cosmetics and Kylie Skin would be? I have so many ideas for the future of my brands, but it would be cool to see how its shaped out in the future.
Is there something that you've dreamed of doing for a long time? Why haven't you done it?
I have lots of dreams, especially for my businesses! There are so many exciting things to come, just that I’m waiting for the perfect time.. .CREDITS:

SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff. The unions noted that they would no longer be able to assure the government of industrial peace in universities should the amounts owed by the government are not released. Earlier, the uni...
