 U.S Finalizes $20,000 Visa Bond Policy Affecting Nigeria and 49 Other Nations The United States government has officially formalized its visa bond policy, making it a permanent measure that could require travelers from 50 designated countries, including Nigeria, to pay a refundable bond of up to $20,000 before receiving certain visas. First introduced as a pilot scheme in 2025, the policy targets applicants seeking B1 and B2 visas, which are designated for business and tourism. According to the U.S. Department of State, the initiative is designed to bolster compliance with local immigration laws and drastically reduce visa overstay rates. Here are seven facts you need to know about Peter Obi’s running mate Baba-Ahmed

1. In the April 2011 elections, Baba-Ahmed polled 366,398 votes in the contest for Senator for Kaduna North. Runner-up Senator Ahmed Makarfi of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), the incumbent, polled 365,043 votes.

2. Baba-Ahmed was elected in April 2003 to the Federal House of Representatives for the Zaria Federal Constituency, Kaduna State.

3. He was among lawmakers who opposed letting Obasanjo run for a third term.

4. Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed was born to the Baba-Ahmed family in Zaria in the 1970s.

5. Baba-Ahmed has a BSc and MSc in Economics from the University of Maiduguri in Borno State
