 Reps Direct Rivers Sole Administrator to Report to National Assembly The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has instructed Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, to report directly to the National Assembly in managing the state’s affairs, in line with the 1999 Constitution (as amended). The directive was issued on Tuesday during the inauguration of a 21-member House Ad-Hoc Committee on Rivers State in Abuja. The committee’s formation follows President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a six-month state of emergency in Rivers State on March 18, 2025, prompted by a political crisis between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the State House of Assembly. Tinubu suspended both the governor and the assembly, appointing Ibas as Sole Administrator—a decision ratified by both chambers of the National Assembly. IPOB's Nnamdi Kanu Not Acquitted, He Had Other Cases To Answer - Malami

The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami (SAN) has said the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu was not acquitted by the Court of Appeal.

He said the appellate court only decided a single issue that borders on rendition.
He said Kanu has other pre-rendition cases to answer.

Malami made the clarifications in a statement through his Special Assistant on Media and Public Relations, Dr. Umar Jibrilu Gwandu.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
