 TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE ALONG BENIN–SAPELE ROAD Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during a targeted operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. The suspect, identified as Olamide Oyeniyi, was arrested on 12 September 2026 at Obaretin Community by troops conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes within the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms.  Fatal Bulletproof Charm Testing: 19-Year-Old Native Doctor Shoots Client Dead in Edo


The Edo State Police Command has apprehended a 19-year-old self-proclaimed native doctor following the death of his client during an attempt to test a bulletproof charm.


The incident occurred on August 20, 2024, in Onumu Community, Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State.


According to a statement released on Monday by the State Police Command spokesperson, SP Moses Yamu, the victim, identified as Alex Ezekiel, had approached the native doctor to obtain a charm purportedly capable of protecting against gunshots and cutlass attacks.


After preparing the charm, the native doctor attempted to demonstrate its effectiveness by shooting Ezekiel.


However, the charm failed, and Ezekiel sustained fatal injuries. Despite being rushed to Ifejola Hospital in Igarra, the victim was pronounced dead by a medical doctor.


Yamu confirmed that the suspect has been taken into custody and will be prosecuted once the investigation is concluded.


“The suspect will face prosecution as soon as the investigation is concluded,” the police spokesperson stated.
