 Anambra Govt Warns Against Purchase of Encroached Land at Trans-Nkissi By MaryAnn Chukwuma The Anambra State Ministry of Lands has warned members of the public against purchasing plots at TransNkissi Phase 1, behind the Federal Government Girls College, Onitsha, from persons claiming ownership on behalf of the Umuosodi family of Onitsha. The warning was contained in a public notice dated Sept. 28, 2026, with Ref. No. PS/ML/2026/CR/VOL.II/028 and signed by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Nkeiru Mokwe, for the Commissioner. According to the notice, the Ministry became aware that persons alleged to be members of the Umuosodi family had invaded and commenced clearing portions of the land with the intention of selling them to unsuspecting members of the public. It said compensatory plots had been allocated to the family and other families in Onitsha before the current administration.  Fatal Bulletproof Charm Testing: 19-Year-Old Native Doctor Shoots Client Dead in Edo


The Edo State Police Command has apprehended a 19-year-old self-proclaimed native doctor following the death of his client during an attempt to test a bulletproof charm.


The incident occurred on August 20, 2024, in Onumu Community, Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State.


According to a statement released on Monday by the State Police Command spokesperson, SP Moses Yamu, the victim, identified as Alex Ezekiel, had approached the native doctor to obtain a charm purportedly capable of protecting against gunshots and cutlass attacks.


After preparing the charm, the native doctor attempted to demonstrate its effectiveness by shooting Ezekiel.


However, the charm failed, and Ezekiel sustained fatal injuries. Despite being rushed to Ifejola Hospital in Igarra, the victim was pronounced dead by a medical doctor.


Yamu confirmed that the suspect has been taken into custody and will be prosecuted once the investigation is concluded.


“The suspect will face prosecution as soon as the investigation is concluded,” the police spokesperson stated.
