 U.S Finalizes $20,000 Visa Bond Policy Affecting Nigeria and 49 Other Nations The United States government has officially formalized its visa bond policy, making it a permanent measure that could require travelers from 50 designated countries, including Nigeria, to pay a refundable bond of up to $20,000 before receiving certain visas. First introduced as a pilot scheme in 2025, the policy targets applicants seeking B1 and B2 visas, which are designated for business and tourism. According to the U.S. Department of State, the initiative is designed to bolster compliance with local immigration laws and drastically reduce visa overstay rates.  Suspect Arrested for Brutal Murder in Tjibeng Village


A 40-year-old man is expected to appear before the Mecklenburg Magistrate’s Court in connection with the murder of a 37-year-old man at Tjibeng village during the early hours of Saturday, 30 August 2025.


Police were alerted around 02:30 about a man found lying unconscious on the street. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim in a pool of blood with severe head injuries. He was wearing a black T-shirt, blue trousers, and white takkies. Several stones were also found next to the body, suggesting he was stoned to death.


Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were summoned and certified the victim dead at the scene.


An immediate manhunt was launched, and the suspect was apprehended later the same morning at about 07:30 in the same village.


The motive behind the attack is still under investigation. Police indicated that the deceased, who is alleged to have been a security officer, will be identified in due course.
