 TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE ALONG BENIN–SAPELE ROAD Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during a targeted operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. The suspect, identified as Olamide Oyeniyi, was arrested on 12 September 2026 at Obaretin Community by troops conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes within the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms.  Borno State Governor, Prof Zulum Condemns Suicide Bomb Blast In Gamboru Market


Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum has condemned, in  strong terms, a suicide attack at Gomboru market mosque in Maiduguri metropolis on Wednesday evening.


A suspected suicide bomber sneaked into the mosque while worshippers were performing the Maghrib prayer, killing five people and injuring 35 others.


Governor Zulum called for increased vigilance and heightened security measures, particularly in places of worship during the festive period.


He said attacking a place of worship is a desecration of the sanctity of the mosque at a time when Muslim faithful are performing acts of worship.


Professor Zulum extends his condolences to the families of all those that lost their lives in the attack and prays for the repose of their souls and for the speedy recovery of those injured.


The Governor assured that adequate measures have been taken to forestall any security breach during the festive period and beyond.
