KIDNAPPING OCCURS DAILY IN KOGI, BANDITS TOOK 28 RESIDENTS ON MONDAY — SUNDAY KARIMI.(PHOTO).

 Senator Sunday Karimi has raised concerns over the growing incidence of kidnapping and banditry in Kogi State, describing abductions as a daily occurrence in the state. Karimi made the remarks on Wednesday during plenary while contributing to a motion of urgent public importance sponsored by Senator Abdulfatai Buhari on the recent abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Ogbomoso. The lawmaker said kidnapping and banditry have become major security challenges threatening the stability of the country, stressing that responsibility for addressing the menace should not rest solely on the Federal Government. According to him, bandits invaded Ayedun Bunu, a community in Kogi West Senatorial District, in the early hours of Monday and abducted 28 residents.  Gamboru Market Explosion Linked to Suspected Boko Haram Suicide Bomber, Says NA


Joint Task Force (North East) Operation Hadin has attributed the bomb blast at Gamboru Market in Maiduguri on Wednesday evening 24th December,2025 to suspected Boko Haram Terrorist suicide bomber, who detonated an improvised explosive device, killing himself and 2 civilians on the scene.


The Troops of Operation Hadin Kai, in conjunction with the Nigeria Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team,other sister security agencies, Borno State Government and NEMA responded promptly, secured, and cordoned off the affected area to prevent further harm and ensure public safety.


Casualties were immediately evacuated to the General Hospital and the Teaching Hospital in Maiduguri for prompt medical attention.


A total of 32 civilians sustained varying degrees of injuries. Regrettably, 2 of the injured civilians were later confirmed dead at the hospital, while 2 others are currently in critical condition. The remaining injured persons are stable and receiving appropriate medical care.


Troops and other security agencies have since intensified surveillance and security measures within Maiduguri and surrounding areas.


 Members of the public are also advised to remain calm and security conscious especially during the yuletide season.
