  Putin meets S. Africa's Ramaphosa in India Russian President Vladimir Putin met with his South African counterpart, Cyril Ramaphosa, at the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in India on Friday. The two leaders will discuss bilateral cooperation and issues of international significance. President Cyril Ramaphosa called on BRICS governments and business communities to use the grouping as a platform to deepen investment and trade, reshape existing economic patterns and transform the economies of countries across the Global South. “We cannot accept a future where Africa supplies the minerals on which the next generation of industries depends, while value addition and manufacturing take place elsewhere. “If we are to change where value is created, we must also change where investment is directed.  PSG OPEN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TITLE DEFENCE WITH 6-1 WIN AS ARSENAL, LIVERPOOL CLAIM VICTORIES

                                                                                                                                

Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain have opened their title defence with a 6-1 victory over Slovan Bratislava in Paris.


Ousmane Dembele scored twice, while new signing Ferran Torres struck a hat-trick as PSG took control of the match. Fabian Ruiz completed the scoring in stoppage time after Suleiman Camara pulled one back for Bratislava.


Arsenal also began their campaign with a win, beating Napoli 1-0 away through a 75th-minute strike from captain Martin Odegaard. At Anfield, Liverpool came from behind to defeat Atletico Madrid 2-1, while Barcelona thrashed Feyenoord 5-1.


The Champions League action continues on Thursday, with six more fixtures scheduled.
