 NAFDAC Reopens Onitsha Drug Market After Month-Long Closure The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has reopened the Onitsha Head Bridge drug market, popularly known as 'Ogbo Ogwu', after a month-long closure for sanitization and regulatory enforcement. The market was shut down as part of NAFDAC's nationwide clampdown on fake and substandard medicines. To prevent a recurrence of the issues that led to the closure, NAFDAC has implemented strict administrative conditions for reopening. Shop owners are required to complete documentation and clearance procedures before their shops can be unsealed. A dedicated NAFDAC desk has been established to facilitate the process efficiently, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.² According to NAFDAC Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, only shops that meet the conditions will be allowed to resume operations.                                                                                      THE SOKOTO STATE DELEGATION TO THE 2013 HAJJ PILGRIMAGE TODAY IN SOKOTO SAID ONE OF ITS MALE PILGRIMS AMADU ACHIDA HAS DIED IN SAUDI ARABIA.HE DIED OCT 16,TWO DAYS AFTER THE ARAFAT AND HE HAILS FROM WURNO LOCAL GOVERNMENT OF SOKOTO STATE.HE WAS COMPLAINING OF BODY PAINS AT MUNA NEAR MAKKAH SHORTLY AFTER,HE WAS CONFIRMED DEAD AND THIS MADE HIM SO FAR THE ONLY PILGRIM FROM THE STATE WHO DIED DURING THIS YEAR HAJJ EXERCISE.HIS REMAINS HAD SINCE BEEN BURIED BY THE SAUDI AUTHORITIES AT MAKKAH  AFTER A FUNERAL PRAYER AT THE GRAND MOSQUE AT THE KA'ABAH.HIS FAMILY HAD BEEN DULY INFORMED ABOUT HIS DEMISE.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up. The Appellant is an actor. He acted in a script that he was invited to act by his colleague (PW1), Damilola Adekoya,” he said.
