 Police Fire Teargas At Protesters In Port Harcourt Tension erupted in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, on Monday as officers of the Rivers State Police Command fired teargas at protesters gathered at the Isaac Boro Park. The protesters, members of the 'Take It Back Movement', defied police warnings, insisting on their right to assemble. The demonstrators, who arrived at the venue as early as 9 am, were met with heavy police presence. "Nobody can tell us where not to gather, we are Rivers people," they shouted, standing firm despite police warnings. The standoff escalated, with officers deploying teargas to disperse the crowd, chasing protesters, and beating up some, including journalists. The protest aimed to express grievances against the government, including the repeal of the Cybercrime Act and the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara. EFCC TODAY ARRESTED BAYELSA FORMER GOVERNOR TIMIPRE SYLVA,OVER N48 BILLION FRAUD.

             According to sources who confirmed the arrest said that,today thursday ''The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC,arrested Timipre Sylva,the former governor of Bayelsa state,following his refusal to honour invitations to answer charges over the allegations of fraud running into billions of Naira.The offence is said to have been committed while he served as the governor of Bayelsa state.He was picked up today at his Maitama,Abuja home''.More details later.More photos below.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
