 IGP DISU PAYS OPERATIONAL VISIT TO  AKWA IBOM, PRESIDES OVER PASSING-OUT CEREMONY OF 1,068 RETRAINED CONSTABLES The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, today, 30th April 2026, undertook an official visit to Akwa Ibom State, where he paid a courtesy call on the Executive Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, ahead of the passing-out ceremony of retrained Police Constables in Uyo. AL-QAEDA RAID IN AN HOTEL YESTERDAY NIGHT,LEFT 20 PEOPLE DEAD IN BURKINA FASO.

                 Security forces ended a siege by al-Qaeda fighters at Splendid Hotel in Burkina Faso's capital today saturday,killing three islamist gunmen and freeing 126 hostages.At least 20 people are believed to have been killed in the attack on the hotel which began late yesterday friday.Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb {AQIM} claimed responsibility for the raid.Simone Compaore said operations were still under way at a second hotel nearby,the Hotel Yibi and security forces were trying to determine if some of the fighters were hiding there.According to the Minister,''The operations at the Splendid Hotel and the nearby Restaurant Cappuccino have ended.126 hostages were freed,among them 33 were wounded.Three jihadists were killed.They are an Arab and two black Africans'.More photos below.
