Ekiti State Executive Council has condemned the continuous harassment and detention of some state government officials by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC.
Commissioner for Information,Youth and Sports Development, Mr Lanre Ogunsuyi who addressed the pressmen in Ado Ekiti described the detention of the Commissioner for finance Chief Toyin Ojo and Accountant General Mrs Yemisi Owolabi as political.

Mr Ogunsuyi explained that the desperation displayed by the Federal Government is a political aberration that portrays it as incapable of understanding the best democratic ethos.
He therefore called on the EFCC to respect the rule of law by abiding by the subsisting court ruling. The Exco through their spokesman stressed that the option available to EFCC was to either grants the arrested state officials administrative bail or charge them to court if they had breached any law. Also, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Idowu Adelusi said that labour leaders in the state has already exonerated the state government on the accused misappropriated bailout fund by EFCC, hence the need for their release.
