 Edo State Governor Clashes with PDP Over Support for President Tinubu Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has strongly criticized the state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for misrepresenting his support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration. In a statement issued on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, the governor dismissed the PDP’s claims as “weak” and unfounded. The controversy arose after Okpebholo, while hosting 17 acting chairmen from Edo’s 18 local government areas who recently defected from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027. He praised Tinubu’s leadership, particularly the removal of the fuel subsidy, a move he said previous administrations avoided despite its potential to drive national development. NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT PARTNERS WITH NIGER, FRANCE AND UNITED KINGDOM ON TACKLING CROSS BORDER CRIMES.#PRESS RELEASE.

      Nigerian government has entered into a new partnership with the governments of Niger, France and the United Kingdom on tackling cross border crimes.
Making the disclosure today in Abuja, the Honourable Minister of Interior, Lt General (Rtd), Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau, said the proposal was a fallout of a sideline meeting of the four countries at the Regional Conference on Anti-human Trafficking/Smuggling of Migrants held in Niamey, in Niger Republic on June 18 & 19, 2018.
The Interior Minister said the partnership was initiated by the United Kingdom and France to strengthen collaboration with Nigeria and Niger Republic in the area of border management, intelligence sharing and legal cooperation.Gen Damabazau added that the partnership, which seeks to strengthen cooperation among security agencies of the four countries in combating human trafficking, drugs peddling, illicit arms proliferation and terrorism is expected to deliver on its objectives within the duration of 12-36 months.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
