 Carrick favourite for Man Utd caretaker role Michael Carrick has emerged as favourite to be appointed Manchester United caretaker head coach, according to sources close to the process. Club chiefs are hoping to have an appointment in place for when players return to training on Wednesday. While a final decision is yet to be reached, talks are said to have progressed with the 44-year-old over the position. Carrick previously had a three-game stint as United's temporary boss following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's dismissal in 2021. He won two and drew one of those matches but left after Ralf Rangnick's arrival as interim manager. Solskjaer held face-to-face discussions with the club on Saturday about a return. United sacked Ruben Amorim as manager after 14 months in the job on 5 January. MAIRIGA APPOINTED EXECUTIVE SECRETARY, FGSHLB
President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Mr. Ibrahim Abdu Mairiga as the Executive Secretary, Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board (FGSHLB) with effect from 24th July, 2020 for a term of Four (4) Years in the first instance.
The letter conveying the approval was signed by The Head of Service of the Federation (HOS), Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan. She stated that the new appointment calls for dedication, hard work and commitment for the realization of the mandate of the Board. She therefore advised Mr. Mairiga to bring his wealth of experience and knowledge to bear on the task ahead.
Mr. Ibrahim Abdu Mairiga was born on the 4th of December, 1960 in Gombe, Gombe State, Nigeria. He holds a Masters of Arts (History) from the University of Maiduguri and Bachelor of Arts (History) from Bayero University, Kano State. He has attended many professional courses both within and outside Nigeria.
Mr. Mairiga was the Director, Employment Mobility and Director Overseeing the Office of Permanent Secretary, Career Management in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) before his current appointment. He is expected to assume duties in the Board immediately.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”.
