ACTOR 'JOAQUIN PHOENIX ' FAINTED ON SET OF HIS NEW FILM 'BEAU IS AFRAID '.(PHOTOS).

Joaquin Phoenix fainted on the set of his new film, Beau Is Afraid. The forthcoming flick’s director Ari Aster spoke about the moment 48-year-old Joaquin collapsed during a Q&A over the weekend.
To mark April Fool’s, Ari, 36, pranked moviegoers by making them think they were attending a special screening of his film Midsommar. Instead, guests were treated to a showing of his new film starring Joaquin, Beau Is Afraid. After the film finished, Emma Stone interviewed Ari for a Q&A, during which he told guests that Joker star Joaquin had been filming an ‘intense scene’ opposite Patti LuPone, who plays his mum, and ended up collapsing. According to Deadline, Ari said: ‘There was a scene that was very intense for Patti and it was a shot that was on Patti, it was not on him and all of a sudden he fell out of frame.’ Joaquin plays Beau, the film’s central character (Picture: A24) Director Ari Aster said: ‘All of a sudden he [Joaquin] fell out of frame’ (Picture: Dave Benett)The filmmaker went on: ‘I was really pissed cause it was a really good take. It felt confusing so I went around the corner and he was collapsed. ‘I knew it was bad because he was letting people touch him and people were tending to him and he was allowing it.’

‘The point is that he fainted in somebody else’s take, he wasn’t on camera and he was helping them, he was in it for them to the point where he collapsed. ‘It’s very poetic that he collapsed in somebody else’s shot.’ The first trailer for Beau Is Afraid dropped in January. The two-and-a-half-minute clip provided our first glimpse as Joaquin as Beau, the film’s central character. More: Trending A24 has been pretty tight-lipped about the plot but has shared a short synopsis that reads: ‘A paranoid man embarks on an epic odyssey to get home to his mother in this bold and ingeniously depraved new film from writer-director Ari Aster.’ In the trailer, Phoenix appears to struggle with his grip on reality as he desperately searches for his mum, who can be heard in the opening segment telling him that she’s sorry for ‘what your daddy passed down to you, but I wanted a child, the greatest gift of my life’.
