 Nicole Kidman recalls the heartbreaking moment she found out her mom died Nicole Kidman has opened up about the heartbreaking moment she learned of her mother Janelle’s death just as she was about to accept a best actress award at the Venice International Film Festival.  The Babygirl star recalled being backstage when she received the news, saying she returned to her room “completely devastated” and unsure how she would move forward without her mother, who had been such a central part of her life. She described the “harrowing” attempt to leave Venice in the middle of the night to return to Australia, only to turn back, overwhelmed and alone.  Director Halina Reijn later read a statement on Kidman’s behalf, dedicating the award to Janelle and acknowledging the collision of art and life in that painful moment.  Man Killed by an Elephant in Hoedspruit


A senior elephant carer, Israel Shambira, tragically lost his life after being gored by an elephant at a sanctuary in Hoedspruit, Limpopo, on Saturday.


According to the Hoedspruit Elephant Rehabilitation and Development (HERD), the incident happened shortly after 3pm while the elephants were out in the bush on the reserve. One of the elephants, named Limpopo, pushed down a tree under which Shambira was seated. Moments later, the elephant turned on him and fatally gored him.


Colleagues rushed to assist, but sadly, nothing could be done to save his life.


HERD confirmed that Shambira was one of the original carers who came with the elephants from Zimbabwe in March 2002, and he had dedicated decades of his life to their care.
