Paramount launches hostile bid for Warner Bros., countering Netflix’s $72 billion offer  Paramount has launched a hostile bid to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery, directly challenging Netflix just days after the streaming giant reached a $72 billion agreement to take over the company. In its announcement Monday, Paramount said it is bypassing Warner Bros. leadership and appealing directly to shareholders with a $30-per-share all-cash offer for the entire company, including the Global Networks division. The company urged investors to reject the Netflix deal, which remains subject to approval. Paramount argued that the Netflix proposal would drag shareholders into a lengthy and uncertain regulatory process across multiple countries, while also tying their financial future to what it described as a complicated mix of cash and stock. Terver Atu, Principal Special Assistant to the Governor of Benue State on Youth and Media Mobilization, has fired back at Hon. Asema Achado over recent comments claiming he and his stakeholders made a “mistake” by supporting Governor Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia.


Atu described Achado as a perennial aspirant in Gwer Local Government who has contested nearly every election without success, calling him an example of political failure. “The mere pronouncement of Governor Alia’s name unites the people, not politics, but grace and divine acceptance,” Atu said. “That same goodwill carried him to Abuja as a House of Representatives member for the first time.”


According to Atu, Achado’s remarks insult the collective efforts of the Benue masses who supported Governor Alia to end years of underdevelopment. He warned that in 2027, voters will no longer accept empty claims or attacks on the governor. “The people are not blind. Tell them what you have done with their mandate for three years instead of blaming the governor as if he owes you child support,” Atu said.


Atu also dismissed Achado’s approach of asking for forgiveness from the masses as outdated. He cited similar strategies by former governors Suswam and Ortom, noting that such tactics failed to sway voters. “Political relevance comes from service, humility, gratitude, and reverence for God’s anointed. Doing no project while attacking the governor will only remind the people of past mistakes,” Atu said.


He concluded by reaffirming the public’s support for Governor Alia: “It was the Benue masses who voted for Governor Alia, and he continues to make them proud. They will vote wisely again in 2027.”
