 A Tennessee family, and an entire community, has been left stunned and grieving after a pack of dogs took the life of a man out for a jog. When 43-year-old Marko Bursey arrived in Henning, Tennessee, to visit his parents, he had no idea that he would never be returning back to his home in Nashville. Marko could have never imagined the terrible fate that awaited him, lurking in the woods, near an abandoned school.  However, Marko's horrific death has had an indelible effect on not just his loved ones but an entire community as they search for answers on how this tragedy unfolded.  SOUTH AFRICANS WHO TOOK OVER SPAZA SHOPS SAY THEY NEED MORE GOVERNMENT SUPPORT AS THE R178 BILLION SECTOR FACES GROWING CHALLENGES 


South African-owned spaza shops in KwaZulu-Natal are calling for greater government support, saying local entrepreneurs continue to face significant challenges despite the township retail sector being valued at an estimated R178 billion.


During a recent engagement with the provincial government, local spaza shop owners said they need improved access to funding, business training, mentorship and other forms of support to help them compete, grow their businesses and create more jobs.


KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli acknowledged the concerns and pledged that the provincial government would strengthen programmes aimed at supporting South African-owned township businesses through funding opportunities, skills development and enterprise support.


The discussions come as many South Africans have been encouraging consumers to support locally owned businesses, arguing that stronger local enterprises can help reduce unemployment and stimulate economic growth within townships.


Business owners say that with the right support, South African-owned spaza shops can expand, employ more people and play an even bigger role in strengthening the country's economy.
