A 3-MONTH-OLD DIED IN THE HOSPITAL WITH "MYSTERIOUS" HEAD INJURIES. THEN INVESTIGATORS NOTICED THE MOTHER'S DIAMOND RING WAS A PERFECT MATCH.(PHOTO).

A 3-month-old died in the hospital with "mysterious" head injuries. Then investigators noticed the mother's diamond ring was a perfect match.

Deputies with Polk County Sheriff's Department received a report of an unresponsive baby on the evening of Thursday, September 6th.

Deputies arrived at the home in Lakeland, Florida, where they were met by 42-year-old Jessica Vlasac.

She informed deputies that she had gone to sleep with her baby boy and had awoken to find him face down on the floor and unresponsive. Jessica added that her baby son was cold to the touch.

When questioned, Jessica's housemates reported hearing nothing alarming prior to her screaming hysterically.

The baby was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced deceased in the early morning of Friday, September 7th

As the investigation progressed, medical examiners could find "nothing consistent with a de@th due to co-sleeping".

However, they did find subdermal hemorrhaging and three impact spots on the baby boy's head. A strange L-shaped injury, likely caused by a square object, was also noted.

With the autopsy findings in hand, detectives began to re-interview everyone associated with the child's de@th.

The "Eureka" moment came during an interview with Jessica.  As they were questioning her, detectives noticed she was wearing a large diamond ring. They could not help but notice the ring seemed to perfectly match the child's injuries.

Detectives seized the ring on the spot and turned it over to the medical examiner.  The ring was quickly determined to be the probable instrument that left the impact marks on the baby's head.

Further investigation would uncover shocking messages Jessica had sent to the baby's father stating she had taken the baby's life.

With a seemingly a rock solid case made by detectives, 42-year-old Jessica Vlasac was arrested and charged with aggravated chi/d @buse, resulting in de@th. She was booked into Polk County Jail.

Our thoughts are with everyone who loved, and lost, this baby boy.
