Following receipt of the report, police operatives from Kuje Division were immediately dispatched to the scene, where one Bashir Usman was rescued from an irate mob that was about to lynch him. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect was being assaulted by the mob over allegations that he attempted to abduct a five year old child in front of her residence in Angwan Lado, Kuje Area Council of the FCT. BLEACHING CREAM ABUSERS RISK CANCER- NAFDAC. (PHOTO).

The National Agency For Food And Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has raised the alarm over the increasing abuse of bleaching creams in the country saying users face the risk of cancer. The agency spoke against the backdrop of a recent World Health Organisation (WHO) report, which found that nearly 77 percent of Nigerian women use skin-lightening products regularly. NAFDAC raised the concern during the launch of the Southsouth zonal media sensitisation workshop on the dangers of bleaching creams and regulatory control on Monday in Port Harcourt. The Director-General of the agency, Prof. Moji Adeyeye, who was represented by the Director of Chemical Evaluation and Research, Dr. Leonard Omokpariola, insisted that people, who continue to use and patronise bleaching creams and other related cosmetic products faced the risk of becoming susceptible to cancer. He said abusers could also cause damage to their vital body organs, skin irritation and allergy, skin burn and rashes, wrinkles...

Gunmen kill retired custom officer, abduct son in Plateau 27 March 2023  According to a source, they held the occupants of the house hostage and went straight to Gochin’s bedroom and shot him at close range and left him to die in a pool of his blood. The source added that after the dastardly act, the kidnappers on their way out of the house kidnapped the son of the retired Customs officers and took him away on a motorcycle. Plateau police spokesman, DSP Alfred Alabo, who confirmed the incident, said before the teams led by the DPO Nasarawa and Laranto could get to the scene of the incident the gunmen had fled. Alabo added the policemen conveyed the deceased to the hospital where he was confirmed dead, adding the Command was making an effort to apprehend those behind the act and rescue the son of the retired Customs officer. Benue PDP Members Denies Suspending Ayu From Party, Says Their Signatures Were Forged The Peoples Democratic Party PDP, in the home state of the National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu on Monday denied the letter of suspension, saying that their signatures were forged. In a letter addressed to the PDP Chairman in Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State, the executive members of Igyorov Ward of Benue State explained that they never endorsed Ayu’s suspension for any reason. Describing the letter as a height of mischief, the exco said the purported suspension was not in line with due process and proper consultation was not observed in line with the party Constitution. They called on PDP members and supporters to disregard the suspension, stressing that their signatures were forged for purposes of mischief. Lagos tenant stabs friend to death during argument 28th March 2023 A woman, Annie Ofili, has allegedly stabbed her friend, Glory Okon, to death at her residence on the Greenville Estate, Badore, in the Ajah area of Lagos State. On the day of the incident, Okon paid Ofili a visit at home. While the two of them were discussing at the suspect’s residence, an argument ensued between them and the argument degenerated into a scuffle. It was learnt that during the scuffle, Ofili reached for a knife in the kitchen and allegedly used it to stab her friend in the neck. A source, while chronicling the circumstances surrounding the events that led to Okon’s death, said no one knew what caused the scuffle, adding that when they heard them shouting at each other, efforts to open the door to separate them proved abortive. Domestic Worker Kills His Boss & Her Daughter 24 Hours After He Was Employed  The Ikeja High Court on Monday, March 27, sentenced a domestic staff, Joseph Ogbu, to death by hanging for killing his 89-year-old employer, Ajoke John and her daughter, Oreoluwa John, 38, in Lagos. It was reported that the convict, who hails from Oju Local Govt Area of Benue State, brutally murdered the victims at their residence at Number 4 Ogunlana Drive in Surulere, on June 19, 2019, 24 hours after he was employed. The defence counsel, Moses Enema, in his allocutus, prayed the court to have mercy on the convict. However, the state counsel, Olarewaju Daud, urged the court to convict the defendant as charged. Daud told the court that the convict committed the offences at 9:30 p.m. on Ogunlana Drive, Surulere, Lagos. The prosecution submitted that the defendant killed Ms Oreoluwa by stabbing her. He said the defendant also robbed the deceased of her car, phones and Plasma TV while armed with a knife....

Fagbohun succeeds Aigoro as Ogun Head of Service  Gov. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has appointed Mr. Kolawole Peter Fagbohun as the new Head of Service in the state. This is contained in a statement issued in Abeokuta on Monday by Mr Tokunbo Talabi, the Secretary to the State Government. According to the statement, the appointment takes immediate effect. Fagbohun succeeds Dr. Nafiu Aigoro, who retired from public service last Friday . A multidisciplinary specialist with a rich social science background, with core competence in human resources, perception and reputation management, Mr. Fagbohun was the winner of 2007 Merit Award Winner in the Ogun State Public Service.  Until his appointment as Head of Service,  he was the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
