 Anambra Govt Warns Against Purchase of Encroached Land at Trans-Nkissi By MaryAnn Chukwuma The Anambra State Ministry of Lands has warned members of the public against purchasing plots at TransNkissi Phase 1, behind the Federal Government Girls College, Onitsha, from persons claiming ownership on behalf of the Umuosodi family of Onitsha. The warning was contained in a public notice dated Sept. 28, 2026, with Ref. No. PS/ML/2026/CR/VOL.II/028 and signed by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Nkeiru Mokwe, for the Commissioner. According to the notice, the Ministry became aware that persons alleged to be members of the Umuosodi family had invaded and commenced clearing portions of the land with the intention of selling them to unsuspecting members of the public. 2024 Hajj: KBSG To Reorganise Pilgrims Welfare Agency   Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State, has assured his administration commitment to carry out necessary reorganization of the State Pilgrims Welfare Agency for effective and efficient performance to ensure smooth operation for the 2024 Hajj excercise. Governor Idris, who stated this while recieving the report of the 2023 Hajj Committee, gave the assurance that, the 2024 Hajj would surpass previous exercises in organisational structure, comfortability and smoothness. The Governor said that, government would study the report and make obligatory adjustments such as tackling administrative problems and failure as well as appointing people of integrity who would serve Pilgrims throughout duration of the Hajj excercises. Reps committee vows to probe Nigeria Air project The House of Representatives Committee on Aviation Technology, says it will look into the controversy surrounding the launched Nigeria Air project and inform Nigerians accordingly. Chairman of the Committee Mr Abiodun Akinlade, stated this during the inaugural meeting of the committee at the National Assembly.  He said there were a lot of issues surrounding the Nigeria Air Project that Nigerians need to know.  Mr Akinlade stated that the committee is highly concerned at the recent various air crashes in the country, adding that it will do everything within its power to curb it.   “We will, with the support of the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), the regulatory authorities, organize a high-tech stakeholders town hall meeting to look into the causes of the air crashes and other safety abnormalities at our airports. NMDPRA Sets for new regulations in the petroleum industry Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, NMDPRA, is to Introduce seven new regulations in line with the Petroleum Industry Act, PIA 2021, to unravel the activities of syndicates in the petroleum supply chain. The Executive Director of NMDPRA, Mr, Ogbugu Ukoha stated this during a stakeholders Consultation for the Authority phase five in Abuja. Mr, Ukoha explained that activities of syndicates in the petroleum Industry over the years had caused setback to the Nation’s economy and noted that the seven regulations if fully implemented would go a long way in ensuring transparency and accountability in the oil sector. Some stakeholders in the petroleum Industry appealed to government to develop policies that would attract more foreign investment. Senate orders customs to return N62bn to Federation Account Senate has directed the Nigerian Custom Service to refund the sum of over N62 billion to the Federation Account. This followed queries by the Office of the Auditor General of the Federation alleging financial leakages by two federal government revenue-generating agencies, the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) and the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA). At a meeting in Abuja, the Senate Committee on Public Accounts led by Senator Ahmed Wadada gave the NCS team led by Deputy Comptroller General of Customs, in charge of Finance, Admin and Technical Services, Mr F.O. Okun, two weeks to provide evidence of remittance to the Federation Account. The Chairman of the Committee, Senator Ahmed Wadada expressed disappointment that for seven years, the Service has not made any reconciliation since the report was signed. IDPWD: Minister Calls for Establishment, Implementation of States Disability Commission Laws Across Nigeria  Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betta Edu has called on state governments and state Houses of Assembly to establish, domesticate and fully implement disability laws across the country.  The Minister made the call when she declared open the 2023 International Day of Persons with Disabilities at the Shehu Yar'adua Centre, Abuja. She also called for significant improvement on the budget for the Commission for Disabled Persons in Nigeria, saying under the Renewed Hope Agenda, there is no segregation.
