 New Zealand Rugby Player Eugene Hanna Passes Away After Match Injury The New Zealand sporting community is mourning the loss of Eugene Hanna, who has passed away at the age of 30 following a serious injury suffered during a rugby league match. The heartbreaking news was confirmed by his club, the Glenora Bears, whose chairwoman Janet Hunt shared an emotional statement on social media. According to the club, Hanna sustained a critical injury during the team’s opening game of the season against Te Atatu Roosters roughly 10 days before his passing on Tuesday, May 12. Hunt described Eugene as a valued member of the Premier Reserves squad and someone who had quickly built strong friendships within the club despite being a relatively new addition to the Bears family.  Rape Suspect Escapes from Police Custody in Rivers State A male suspect, identified simply as Goodnews, who allegedly defiled a 16-year-old girl in the Rupokwu community, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, last week, has escaped from police custody. The case was being investigated by the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department in Port Harcourt. It was gathered that the suspect escaped when the scene of the crime was visited as part of the investigation procedures. The suspect was earlier arrested by operatives of the Special Area Rumudomaya and transferred to the State CID, Port Harcourt, last week.  A 19-year-old Texas man survived a lightning strike while fishing with his mother the day before Mothers Day. Hunter Wyche proclaimed himself the "unluckiest lucky man" after he was struck by lightning on Saturday, May 10th. Hunter had taken his mother fishing along the Angelina River and was expecting a relaxing day catching up with his mom and maybe catching a few fish. However, while Hunter leaned against a tree, lightning struck, throwing him several feet and leaving him unconscious and wounded. Hunter blacked out during the ordeal and awoke to his mother and a crowd of people around him. As Hunter regained consciousness, he couldn't move his right foot and could barely move his leg. He believes the strike went through his stomach down his right leg and back out through the top of his foot.  The strike also caused wood to explode everywhere, leaving him with wood shrapnel embedded in his skin and face.
