 LASG REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO END TUBERCULOSIS IN COMMUNITIES IN LAGOS STATE The Lagos State Government on Tuesday reaffirmed its commitment to completely eradicate Tuberculosis (TB) at the grassroots level across the metropolis.  The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Health District III, Dr. Monsurat Adeleke made this known during a courtesy visit by the Institute of Human Virology, Nigeria team to her Ikoyi office, emphasising the present administration's commitment to continually prioritise health security across the state. She said the Lagos State First Lady, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Sanwo-Olu, is a Tuberculosis (TB) champion with the mandate of ending TB now and the continuous expansion of TB scale-up diagnostic centres.  According to her, “The First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Sanwo-Olu is a TB champion. OSAMA BI LADEN AIDE KHALED,APOLOGIZED TO VICTIMS BEFORE HE WAS SENTENCED TO LIFE,FOR BOMBING THE US EMBASSY IN NAIROBI.

                Khaled Al-Fawwaz,who is from Saudi Arabia was tried in a US civilian court in New York for taking part in al-Qaeda led bombings of the US embassies in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam,killing 224 people including 12 US citizens and wounding thousands of mostly African victims.Judge Lewis Kaplan sentenced him to life yesterday friday following a six week jury trial this year,in which he was convicted on all 29 charges including four counts of conspiracy to kill a US citizen.Just before the sentencing,Al-Fawwaz asked permission to address the victims of the bombing who were present in the courtroom.He said ''I can't find words to describe how terribly sad and sorry i am.I do not support violence.I never intended for any of my activities to contribute to it.I hope that one day people will find away to deal with their differences other than violence''.US Attorney Preet Bharara welcomed the decision,calling Al-Fawwaz one of Bin Laden's original and most trusted Lieuienants saying that ''Al-Fawwaz conspired with a murderous regime,and the result was a horrific toll of terror and death.The price he will pay,appropriately severe as it is,cannot possibly compensate his victims and their families''.The bombing that took place in 1998 made Al-Fawwaz to be found guilty of proving communication equipment to al-Qaeda,including a satelite phone that was used by Bin Laden to talk to other members of the organisation.More photos below.
