OBI ATTRIBUTES STAMPEDE TRAGEDIES IN OYO, FCT, AND ANAMBRA TO HUNGER AND SYSTEMIC ISSUES. (PHOTO).

 Peter Obi has blamed hunger and systemic failures for the recent spate of stampedes across the country.  Scores of persons were dead, and many others wounded in the tragic incidents in Ibadan, Oyo State; Okija in Anambra and another one in the nation’s capital of Abuja. The stampedes happened in a space of five days with the last two occurring on Saturday morning during food distribution campaigns. Obi, who was the Labour Party (LP)’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, said the incidents underline the rising hunger in the country which has led to desperation. “I am deeply saddened and distressed by the tragic loss of lives in desperate searches for food,” Obi, who is a former governor of Anambra State, wrote in a post on his X account Saturday afternoon. “While I will not cast blame but instead appreciate the organizers of these respective events for their kind gestures in providing palliatives and support to society, especially the poor, these tragedies reflect the...

POLICE RAIDED A HIDEOUT IN RIVERS STATE,& ARRESTED 2 PEOPLE+4 PEOPLE WERE ARRESTED IN LAGOS AFTER A GUN BATTLE.

                 On the 21/02/16 at 8am,acting on a tip-off,a team of Policemen attached to the Division raided a criminal hide-out at the house of one Maurice Etim Effiong,of Odukpani Qua town of Cross River state.Two suspectss namely,John Nnamdi and Uwem Bassey Asuquo were arrested.One Assault rifle with breech No. 07022748 with fifteen rounds of 5.62mm live ammunition and two magazines,one pump action rifle with breech No. R 268214,three HP laptops,two I-pads,one hammer,one axe,one hacksaw,one handsaw,one Thermocool refrigerator,sixteen different handsets,a Toyota Sienna vehicle with Reg.No WAS 101 XA and other items were recovered.Then on the 20th of February,206 at about 4:00am,acting on information that some men of the underworld operating from the Ajegunle Area of Lagos state had finalized plans to attack an unknown destination in Onihale Area of Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State and they were moving in a black coloured Nissan Pathfinder jeep with Reg. No. DJ 03 ABJ,a team of SARS operatives were immediately detailed to curtail the bandits.At about 0830hrs of date,they were intercepted at Iyana Ilogbo.On sighting the police they attempted to make a U-turn and opened fire on the police.In the ensuing gun battle,some of the robbers were arrested with bullet wounds while the following items were recovered; one pump action gun,one double barrel shot gun,fifteen rounds of live cartridges and the said Nissan Pathfinder jeep.They confessed to be on their way to attack a target known to their pointer and also to hijack foreign ships.The arrested suspects are;Dhola Samma,Tosin Oke,Samson Luckyy and Tosin Azuka.All the above cases are still under investigation.One more photo below.
