  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. BOKO HARAM KILLED 18 MOURNERS IN A FUNERAL YESTERDAY NIGHT IN ADAMAWA STATE.

                  The attack occurred late yesterday thursday night in Madagali area of Adamawa state near Sambisa forest,where they killed 18 mourners including many women and children.A witness who insisted on anonymity said ''They stormed our village on motorbikes and immediately opened fire on the people observing the wake''.Other witness said at least 10 people were injured and were rushed to a health facility in the nearby town of Gulak.Police spokesman Othman Abubakar confirmed early reports that 18 people were killed and warned the toll could rise.Lawmaker Adamu Kamale,who represents the region in the House of Representatives,said most of the dead were women and children.He said ''There was pandemonium during which many people scampered for their lives'''.One more photo below.
