 President Trump awarded inaugural FIFA Peace Prize at World Cup draw in Washington  Gianni Infantino, the FIFA President presented the honour onstage at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, saying Trump had been selected “in recognition of his exceptional and extraordinary actions to promote peace and unity around the world”. “This is your prize, this is your peace prize,” Infantino said, after Trump took the stage to accept the trophy, a medal and certificate. “There is also a beautiful medal for you that you can wear everywhere you want to go.”   FIFA says the prize is for “individuals who help unite people in peace through unwavering commitment and special actions”.  Accepting the award, Trump called it “one of the great honours of my life”, before claiming to have “saved millions and millions of lives – the Congo is an example, over 10 million people killed and it was heading for another 10 million very quickly.     Governor Samuel Ortom has stated that those conniving with enemies of the state to execute clandestine agenda will always be put to shame.
He spoke today at Chihichan, Mbakume in Gwer-East local government area during the burial of late David Upuu, elder brother to the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Internal Affairs, Mr. Boniface Nyaakor.
According to him, those plotting evil against his administration would always come behind, stressing that prayers from the church had helped in saving democracy from its enemies in the state.
The Governor stated that attacks on Benue communities by militia herdsmen had only subsided due to the presence of Operation Whirl Stroke, noting that some security agents were killed recently by the marauders.
He revealed that from January to August 2018, close to 50 security operatives had fallen prey to activities of militia herdsmen.
While condoling the bereaved family over the unfortunate incidence, Governor Ortom prayed God to grant the deceased eternal rest and his family the fortitude to bear the loss.
Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Internal Affairs, Mr. Boniface Nyaakor on behalf of the family, expressed appreciation to Governor Ortom for standing by them in their time of grief.
In a funeral mass, Reverend Fr. Peter Pareghve charged Christians to prepare for the day of judgment, describing death as inevitable.More photos below.
