 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. GOV. ABIODUN SETS UP 'OGWAMA' TO FIGHT DIRTY ENVIRONMENT.#PRESS RELEASE.

     In order to improve waste disposal and create a clean and healthy environment,the Ogun state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has established the Ogun state Waste Management Authority,OGWAMA.
The Governor has also appointed designated Mr Ola Oresanya as Special Adviser to oversee waste evacuation and management in the State.
The Adviser who has since resumed duty told Waste Managers how the new Agency would work at a meeting in Abeokuta Wednesday.
He said henceforth waste Managers in the state must have at least two compatibles, evidence of three years tax payment to the Ogun state government and valid registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission.
Mr Oresanya also disclosed that the agency which would become fully operational in January and would partner with contractors and investors in the sector for optimal performance.
He therefore urged the waste managers to be up and doing as the state government is determined to have a clean, healthy and prosperous environment through the newly established waste management authority.
Also speaking at the meeting, the the Director,Waste in the agency, Mr Akinbode Sofela urged the waste managers to cooperate with the state government in her desire to rid the state of all form of wastes either public,commercial or industrial.
