  The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has dismissed a viral claim circulating on social media about the introduction of new ₦5,000 and ₦10,000 banknotes, labeling it as fake news. The claim, which included fabricated images of the supposed new denominations featuring Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe and Chief Obafemi Awolowo, falsely stated that the new notes would enter circulation from May 1, 2025. In a statement on its verified Facebook account, the CBN clarified that the content is not from the bank and directed the public to its official website, (www.cbn.gov.ng), for authentic information. The bank warned against spreading misinformation regarding monetary policies and urged Nigerians to rely only on official statements from its verified channels. The CBN reaffirmed that any major policy decision, including the introduction of new banknotes, would be announced through its official platforms. POLICE ARRESTS SUSPECTED MOTORCYCLE ROBBERS IN IKOYI.

Recover one Motorcycle.

peratives oT the apid Kesponse squad (RRS) on May 8,
2022 arrested two Motorcycle robbers and recovered a
motorcycle in Park View Estate, Ikoyi.

The suspects, Ayo Taiwo m aged 25, Jude Prince Ovat,
m aged 21 and Daniel Chibuike, 'm' who is still at large,
were arrested at about 2300hrs after they disposs
motorcycle rider of his motorcycle.

Preliminary investigation reveals that the suspects Prince
Ovat and Chibuike Daniel boarded the motorcycle from
Obalande to Parkview Estate, Ikoyi where Ayo Taiwo was
waiting for them.

On arriving the destination, Chibuike Daniel hit the rider on
the head with a wheel spanner and dispossessed him of
his motorcycle.

People around the area who witnessed the rather quick

incident raised the alarm which drew the attention of the

Rapid Response Squad (RRS) officers on patrol in the

area.

The suspects who confessed to have stolen several

motorcycles in similar manner disclosed that they sold
each stolen motorcycle for One Hundred and Fitty

Thousand Naira (N150,000).

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun
Alabi, fdc, mnim, psc has directed the Commander RRS,
CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi to transfer the suspects and
exhibit to the CPs Special Squad for further investigation
that would lead to the arrest of the fleeing gang member,
their possible criminal receiver(s), and eventudiny

prosecution.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
