 PRESS RELEASE OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY TO THE GOVERNMENT OF THE FEDERATION FEDERAL GOVERNMENT REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO NATIONAL UNITY AND FAIR REPRESENTATION IN APPOINTMENTS The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) wishes to address recent insinuations circulating, particularly on social media, regarding the composition of Federal appointments. The Government categorically refutes claims of lopsidedness and emphasizes its unwavering commitment to the principles of fairness, equity, and national unity. All appointments are made in strict adherence to federal character principle, as enshrined in Section 14 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as Altered). PRINCE CHARLES REPRESENTED THE QUEEN AT THE OPENING CEREMONY OF THE COMMONWEALTH MEETING IN RWANDA.(PHOTOS).

This morning, The Prince of Wales spoke at the opening ceremony for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Rwanda. His Royal Highness is attending on behalf of The Queen, who is Head of the Commonwealth. 

The ceremony comes at the end of His Royal Highness and The Duchess of Cornwall’s visit to Rwanda, during which they have learnt more about this vibrant country and its energy and optimism as it continues to rebuild.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up. The Appellant is an actor. He acted in a script that he was invited to act by his colleague (PW1), Damilola Adekoya,” he said.
