 NUT Protest : Wike Warns Against Politicising Insecurity The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned against politicising insecurity amid protests by the Nigeria Union of Teachers, FCT wing, over the killing and abduction of school staff and children in Oyo State. Teachers stormed the FCTA Secretariat in Abuja to condemn the killing of Michael Oyedokun and to demand the release of abducted pupils and teachers from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle in Oriire Local Government Area. The FCT minister addressed the protesters on Tuesday, saying the federal government is on its toes working to secure the rescue of the schoolchildren and their teachers. Wike urged protesters to avoid turning the tragedy into a political issue and to give security efforts time to produce results. MAN KILLS FATHER FOR MARRYING SECOND WIFE IN NIGER



A middle-aged man, Kazeem Muhammed, has fled after he killed his father following a dispute in Kwankashe area of Suleja, Niger State.

The sad incident was said to have occurred on Wednesday morning.

It was learnt that Kazeem had been angry with his father for getting married to a second wife for over a year.

According to Daily Trust, a brother to the deceased, Isah, said that soon after killing his father, Kazeem fled.

He said, “The boy is a drug addict and is always involved in bad activities. While they were arguing on Wednesday morning, he carried a plank and hit his father who fell on the floor. Immediately Kazeem noticed that he ran away. We rushed my brother to the hospital, but he died afterwards.”

He further said the matter had been reported to the appropriate authorities while his brother’s remains had been buried according to Islamic rites.

Meanwhile, the police in the area declined comment on the incident.
