  President Bola Tinubu has identified the creative economy as a pivotal element of his administration’s economic diversification agenda, reaffirming his commitment to positioning Nigeria’s creative sector as a driving force for global influence. The President stated this at the launch of the 2024 Abuja International Carnival at Eagle Square, Abuja. President Tinubu, represented by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, said the carnival reaffirms the essence of who Nigerians are—”a people of culture, a people of art, a people of colour, and a people of shared values”. IVM: GOVERNOR UZODIMMA EXPRESS SUPPORT FOR LOCAL CONTENTS 


Governor Hope Uzodimma has stated that the Imo State Government's contract with Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM) for the supply of various brands of their products, was in the spirit of support and promotion of local content.

His Excellency stated this yesterday, while fielding questions from the press after his meeting with the Managing Director of Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria (SPDC).

According to His Excellency, Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM) reneged on an agreement it entered with the State Government for the establishment of a Technical Service Workshop Center in Imo State, for the servicing of the supplied vehicles. 

IVM non-compliance to the contract has led to the grounding of over 70% of the supplied vehicles. However, the Governor stated that the State Government is open for resolution of the difference for the interest of both party but he will not indulge in mismanagement of public funds.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
