 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. WICKEDNESS ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA,CAC REACTS AS THEIR CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION SURFACED ONLINE.(PHOTOS).#PRESS RELEASE.



 *Says Commission Cannot Register Such Association As It’s Name And Object Offensive Amongst Other Reasons


According to a statement by the manager of the commission dated 9th of January 2023, the Commission does not register Associations as business names and could therefore not have approved the registration of the peddled Association as a Business Name.

The statement also added that the purported registration certificate was not and could not have been issued by the Commission for the following reasons:

1. The Commission does not register Associations as Business Names;
2. The name and object of the “Association” offend the provisions of Section 852(1)(c) in that they are undesirable, offensive, and contrary to public policy; and
3. The officer who purportedly signed the certificate had retired from the service of the Commission long before the date the certificate was purportedly issued.

The Commission urged the public to disregard the registration of the said Association and described it as wicked qnd fraudulent.

It also urged the general public to always crosscheck the registration of entities by the Commission on the following website: search.cac.gov.ng.
