 Tinubu Returns to Nigeria Today After France Work Visit Amid Criticism President Bola Tinubu is set to return to Nigeria today, concluding a work visit to Paris, France, that began on April 2, according to a statement from his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, posted on X. The Presidency described the trip as a retreat to review ongoing reforms and strategize for the administration’s second anniversary. The President’s absence drew sharp criticism from opposition leaders amid escalating insecurity in Nigeria, particularly in Benue and Plateau states, where over 100 people have been killed in recent attacks. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, in a statement on April 17 by his spokesman Paul Ibe, accused Tinubu of prioritizing foreign engagements while “Plateau has turned into a killing field.” Atiku urged the President to cut short his trip to address the crisis. Several anti-monarchy protesters have been arrested in central London ahead of the coronation of King Charles III, their group has said, as the Metropolitan Police force faces scrutiny for its approach toward demonstrators at the historic event.


Thousands gathered in central London on Saturday to celebrate the once-in-a-generation event. But it also drew demonstrators, with protesters wearing yellow T-shirts booing and shouting "Not My King" throughout the morning.


Republic, Britain's largest anti-monarchy group, told CNN that police -- without providing any reason -- arrested the organizers of Saturday's anti-monarchy protest.
