 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken. Sultan, SGF Urge Organised Labour To Shelve Planned Strike


President General Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar has appealed to the Organised Labour to shelve their planned nation wide strike to protest the current hardship occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy. 


The Sultan who made the call in Abuja during a public Jummaat Lecture organised as part of activities to mark Nigeria's 63th Independence Anniversary said the planned indefinite strike will only worsen the situation of the already impoverished masses.


The Sultan of Sokoto and Chairman on the occasion, Alhaji Sa'ad Abubakar who noted that the economic hardship being faced by citizens is not peculiar to Nigeria, however called on the leaders to do their best to address the myriads of challenges facing the country 


The Sultan emphasized the need for Nigerians to give the president Bola Ahmed Tinubu led administration a chance to prove what it has for the country. .


In a lecture titled the Renewed hope in the face of Socio-economic Challenge in Nigeria: Islamic Model. A Professor of Islamic Studies from the University of Abuja, Lukman Zakariya said to benefit from the renewed hope agenda of the current administration,  the people must develop a positive attitude towards the country. 


The Secretary to the Government of the Federation , Dr. George Akume called on the organised Labour to listen to the voices of reason, noting that the administration renewed hope struggle would be fulfilled .


President Bola Ahmed Tinubu represented by the Deputy President of the Senate,  Senator Barau Jibril gave an assurance that his administration was working hard to bring Succour to the generality of citizens.


The Chairman National Mosque Management Board and, Etsu Nupe Dr Yahaya Abubakar prayed Allah for continuous guidance and unity of the country.
