A WOMAN DIED IN THE WOODS AFTER SHE WAS DROPPED OFF BY A WASHINGTON COUNTY DEPUTY.(PHOTO).

Potosi, Missouri case of Donna Eye. Donna was picked up by a Washington County deputy to give her a ride from the hospital that she had gone to via ambulance. Donna was found eight days later deceased in remote woods. She was just 44 years old.

Preliminary reports are indicating that Donna might have suffered hypothermia and passed away in the woods after being dropped off.

The Washington County Sheriff's Department maintains "they are not a taxi service." They said this before and after Donna's body was found.

This leaves many to question why they picked her up to take her somewhere in the first place, if they are not a taxi service. Because that's what taxi services do...

The family of Donna Eye would like answers pertaining to why Donna's power of attorney was not notified she was being released from the hospital. Donna suffered from hydrocephalus and had just had brain surgery at Barnes hospital recently. Donna was not thinking correctly and unable to make decisions for herself.

Donna was not being publicly disruptive or doing anything but "sitting silently when she was picked up by a Washington County deputy and dropped off a mile from her brother's home."

Many people have asked if the rumors are true that Donna was missing clothing. A searcher informed people in the area that's how they found her. We do not know if that is the searcher that actually found Donna. However, we have received hundreds of messages asking about this particular word of mouth.

We do not know if she was clothed or if she was not. However, it is very important to note, people that suffer from hypothermia and pass away, sadly, almost always take off articles of clothing because humans become incredibly hot before they succumb to hypothermia. This is called paradoxical undressing. Your brain interprets the extreme cold as feeling very hot.

The one thing we all agree about, this was a preventable death. People let Donna down that night.
